The short version. CarHeat needs your approximate location to pull weather and remember your parking spot. It identifies your device with a hardware fingerprint so the same device sees the same data across reinstalls. Nothing is sold, no advertising IDs are collected. Estimates older than 90 days are deleted automatically.

On first launch we read a stable hardware identifier from your device operating system and use it to derive a unique user ID. We never store the raw identifier in the cloud. This lets your saved cars, parking spots, and reminders survive reinstalls without an account.
When you ask for an estimate or save a parking spot, the app reads your approximate location. We use it only to look up live weather, store your parking spot on a map, and show it back to you. Location is requested only when needed and is never sold or shared.
Car color, car body type, glass tint, interior material, preferred units (C / F), language, and notification preferences from onboarding and Settings.
Each heat estimate and reminder is saved under your user ID so you can review them, dismiss them, and receive re-check or high-temperature alerts.
To deliver reminders and high-temperature warnings, we register a push token with Apple Push Notification service (iOS) or Firebase Cloud Messaging (Android). The token is associated with your user ID until the app is uninstalled or you disable notifications.
If the app crashes we collect a stack trace, OS version, device model, and app version. We never collect message content or your location. We do not collect ad identifiers (IDFA / AAID).
We record aggregate events such as "an estimate was run" or "a reminder was scheduled" so we can understand which features are useful. Events are tied to your user ID but not to your real name, email, or contact list.
We rely on a small number of well-known service providers:
We do not sell your personal information, share it with advertising networks or data brokers, or build profiles for marketing or targeted advertising.
We may share limited data with service providers as needed to operate the app, when required by law or court order, or in the unlikely event of a corporate transaction.
You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data, and to receive a portable copy. Legal bases: performance of a contract, consent for push notifications, and legitimate interests for security. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
You have the right to know what personal information is collected, request deletion, and limit use of sensitive personal information. We do not sell or share your personal information. To exercise these rights, email carheat26@gmail.com.

Data in transit is encrypted with TLS. Data at rest uses industry-standard encryption. Production system access is limited and logged.
CarHeat is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in some EEA countries). If you believe a child has used the app, contact us and we will delete the data.
Personal data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside your residence, including the United States. Where required, transfers rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or an adequacy decision.
We will post material changes on this page with an updated date. Continued use of CarHeat after a change means you accept the revised policy.
