How does CarHeat calculate the cabin temperature?

It runs a calibrated steady-state model that combines current weather for your spot (sun, ambient temperature, wind, cloud cover, UV index) with the properties of your car you entered (color, glass tint, interior material). The output is what the cabin would settle at if parked in those conditions, not what it is right now. Real conditions you did not enter can shift the result.

Why does CarHeat want my location?

Two reasons: to look up weather for where you parked, and to save the parking spot on a map. Location is requested only when needed and is never sold or shared. You can revoke it any time in your phone Settings.

I am on Android and not getting notifications.

On most Mediatek, itel, Tecno, Infinix, OPPO, Vivo, Xiaomi, and OnePlus phones, the system kills background apps to save battery, which prevents push notifications. Open Settings > Apps > CarHeat > Battery and set it to Unrestricted. On Android 13+, also grant the Notifications permission under Settings > Apps > CarHeat > Notifications.

My reminder said 5 minutes but took 7 or 8 to arrive.

Reminders are dispatched by a server job that runs every three minutes, so a 5-minute reminder fires between 5 and 8 minutes after you set it. This keeps running costs low so CarHeat can stay free.

Can I use CarHeat without location permission?

Most of the app still works. You can read tips, browse products, and view your saved car profile. Running new heat estimates and saving parking spots requires location.

The estimate seems off for my car. What should I do?

Double-check your car profile in Settings > Your car. Color and tint matter a lot. Real-world factors the app cannot see (sun direction, parking surface, windows cracked) can shift the result. If consistently off, email us with your car make/model and conditions so we can improve the model.

How do I delete my data?

Email carheat26@gmail.com mentioning "delete my data". We will delete your profile, estimates, parking spots, reminders, and push tokens and confirm by reply.

I changed phones. Will my data come with me?

No. CarHeat identifies your account by a hardware fingerprint, so a new phone is a new account by design. That is also why we do not ask you to register or hand over an email.

Is CarHeat free? Will it always be?

Yes. The current feature set is free. The Shop tab contains affiliate links to cooling accessories from third-party retailers. Buying through them covers our hosting costs. It costs you nothing extra.

Can I use CarHeat to monitor a child or pet in a car?

No. Please do not. CarHeat estimates conditions; it does not measure your actual car and is not a safety alarm. Never leave a child, pet, or vulnerable person in a parked car for any length of time. See the safety disclaimer.
